As the Research Coordinator for the Beyond Yellowstone Program, I run and manage research projects that support landscape-scale conservation in the Greater Yellowstone Area.
My personal research interests center around the behavior and distribution of large terrestrial mammals, with an overarching goal of improving management and conservation outcomes while advancing ecological theory. Current research themes include migration ecology, predator-prey dynamics, and anthropogenic influence on animal behavior.
My PhD in the Middleton Lab at the University of California, Berkeley focused on ungulate migration and wolf-elk interactions in the Intermountain West. I did my master’s work in the Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit at the University of Montana, studying the causes and consequences of elk migration across the state. My undergraduate research at Western Colorado University investigated activity patterns and habitat use of red fox in the Gunnison Basin.
Through my career I’ve been fortunate to work as a research assistant, teaching assistant, environmental facilitator, crew leader, and field technician. Though I genuinely enjoy every aspect of designing and conducting research, fieldwork will forever be my favorite part.
